my bluetooth mouse has stopped connecting with one of my macs

I have a Logitech m590 mouse which until now has worked pretty well on my mid2012 MacBook Pro running Catalina, but today all of a sudden it just stopped connecting and It won't reconnect. Ive tried all suggestions but can't seem to get it connecting. One weird observation is when trying to connect it will frequently appear 2 or 3 times in the devices list, which seems very odd.

However, it seems to connect fine on my old iMac running still (running Catalina) - no trouble at all!

Ive tried ever suggestion ive found..

  • Changing batteries
  • turning machine off ,turning mouse off
  • taking battery out for x seconds and the putting back in
  • have tried to repair on both channels
  • Ive resetted all options under the bluetooth debug menu in Macos
  • deleted .com prefs in library
  • Ive done all of the above several times

would anybody have any others? Im guessing somethings up with my MacBook Pro if it runs fine on the imac

thanks!
