my mouse pointer is moving all over the screen all by it's self what can I do to stop it

my mouse pointer is moving all oner the screen with no help from me

A few things to try for now.


  • Clean the optical sensor
  • Plug in a USB mouse to see if the problem occurs with it.
  • Using the wired mouse delete the wireless mouse from the Bluetooth Preferences then try getting it discovered again
  • Start up in safe mode and see if the problem is still there
  • Shut down, unplug the power cord, wait five minutes, plug it back in, do a normal startup
