How do you get rid of duplicate/triplicate contacts without manually deleting each one? I have no contacts on my Mac, only on my phone. I didn't duplicate, they just suddenly showed up.

This appears to be an 'imperfection' in the software which Apple will not address. The software duplicates contacts at random and there is likely not a solution other than to delete the contacts one by one with the five step process of deleting a contact.
This doesn’t work. The contacts still come back! I’m now up to five and six copies!!!
I have 34,991 contacts in my iCloud, of which 126 should be there and pressing cmd a, does not delete them.
I have duplicate and triplicate in my phone contacts and icloud but no contacts on my mac. How do I get rid of the duplicates?
