My MacBook Pro won’t update to Monterey citing incompatible desk or requiring a compatible dish to upgrade with. The only change to the computer is setting up Boot Camp for a Microsoft system/program. Comments? Whenever Microsoft gets involved it always seems to screw things up.

Sure sounds like you do not have an Apple SSD installed. The Monterey upgrade includes an update to the Mac's firmware and the to do the upgrade the installer looks for an Apple disk to install the necessary files to do the firmware upgrade. If it can't find tan Apple disk it teremines the upgrade.
To go to Monterey you have to install an Apple disk. Upgrade to Monterey. Then you can re install your present disk and upgrade that to Monterey.

Point # 1A - There are reports appearing on the ASC Forums regarding failed installation of Monterey on older Qualifying Apple Computers. In most cases this is related to having a NON Apple Original internal drive ?
The EFI Boot ROM included in Monterey is verifying for Original Apple Drive and if not found , may Balk or fail to upgrade to Monterey.
Reports indicate the EFI BOOT ROM is Required to Flash the Computer and is a requirement for a Successful Monterey Installation.
A possible solution is to swap out the drive for an Apple Original Drive and install Monterey to the Apple Drive.
The reverse the switch back to the After Market drive and run the Monterey Installation too this drive.
