What is the best way to locate my lost iPad?

I left my iPad at security in Paris. I live in the USA. It is offline. Using find my phone….My last location is showing my hotel when it was online. What is the best way to locate it? Apparently I don’t have the correct setting for locating it offline and can’t change that as it is not in my possession. Reported it lost on find my phone with my name phone number and message. Hopefully that will help.

any other suggestions?

Here is Apple’s advice for lost or stolen devices:

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is lost or stolen – Apple Support

Use the Find My app to locate a lost or stolen device – Apple Support

If the Find My iPad feature was enabled prior to it being “misplaced”, then if active, you would stand a good chance of locating it.

However, if the feature was not activated prior to being misplaced - or the iPad has been inactive for more than 24 hours, the last known location will not be available - and the opportunity to use technical means to recover the iPad have been lost.

NB: Apple are unable to assist with locating lost or stolen devices. Unless you have a recent iPhone with iOS15 installed, there are no technical means by which a device that is powered-off can be located.
