Recovery mode

I found my old ipod touch and do not remember the passcode. Will putting it in recovery mode erase all of my pictures?

Yes, it will erase everything. There is no way around that. If you still have a backup on your computer, the apps and data can be restored from it. See: If you forgot the passcode on your iPod touch, or your iPod touch is disabled - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211080
