-------

Identifying Un Assigned Photos:

You've have to search for them, or identify them by the photo's appearance itself.

Perform this on a Mac:

I see that your device is a MacBook Air 13", yet you've posted the in the Photos for iOS forum. So, if using an iOS (mobile) device, then perform this using you computer. If not already on your computer, san it through iCloud.

Sync Through iCloud:

Enable Photos in iCloud. See if it then works.

Accessing Photos On an iPhone:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Your Name (Top Item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: Photos
  5. Enable: iCloud Photos

II. On a Mac:

Access from iCloud, Manually:

  1. Go To: icloud.com
  2. Select: Photos
  3. Download: the Photos

On a Mac you can find the photos not in any album using a smart album (file > new smart album). Set the rule to „Album is not Any.“

On your iPhone there are no smart albums, only filters. You would have to tag the photos in some way the filters can detect. For example, tag the photos in your albums as favorites.the photos without a favourite heart are not in any album.

But why do you need to know, if a photo is in an album or not? Are you trying to clean up the camera roll, recents, All Photo? Adding a photo to an album does not store a copy in the album, it is just adding a reference. The albums do not need any extra storage. You cannot clean up the camera roll by moving photos to an album because we cannot move them out of the Recents or All Photos. Each photo is only stored once, and if you delete it from the library albums Recents or All Photos etc after adding it to an album, it will be deleted from the albums as well, everywhere.
