I have I Mac 27 inch 2019

I have Catalina - can I upgrade to Monterey having skipped the last update?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Yes you can! Go to System Preferences >> Software Update >> then you should see the option to update to macOS Monterey 12.


Before you update, I recommend backing up your Mac with Time Machine (see link if needed) and also make sure you have at least 26GB of free space on your drive.

  • Before upgrading I suggest uninstalling any anti-virus apps, cleanup apps, old redundant apps and make a backup of your current system.
  • If you have any apps which launch at login, temporarily disable these.
  • Get a USB keyboard and mouse (old stuff will do) and plug them in.
  • If you can, connect to your router by Ethernet
  • Before initiating the upgrade quit all running apps including mail & messages
