Macbook Pro M1 mouse pointer jumps to lower left of screen and sticks..

While using Photos App and TV App the mouse pointer jumps in the lower left corner and sticks there.

Problem is still there since several Updates. It did not happen on my previous 16" MBP.

Very annoying :-/

Any idea when this will be fixed? Does anyone else have this problem?

Reproducible:

  • Start TV App
  • choose a movie
  • wait for trailer to begin
  • as soon as trailer starts, mouse jumps into lower left corner and can´t be moved

In Photos App it occurs while browsing through the photos.

1 - Suggest restarting in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time -Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

4 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then this appears to be a System Wide issue.

5 - Suggest downloading the Application Etrecheck directly from a well Respected ASC Contributor. And Safe to use.

The application is free or paid from added features.

Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ).

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

Thanks, Problem could be only reproduced in the Main Account. I will reinstall from scratch and see if that solves the problems.
MacBook migration was done from time machine backup over many years and devices. That seems to bring the strange behaviors over time.

Q - " MacBook migration was done from time machine backup over many years and devices "

A - There may be issues that, occur especially when Migrating from Old Computer Intel to New Computer. This is especially possible if the new computer is the Apple Silicon M1 CPU.

If the new computer is going to be the Apple Silicon M1 Equipped Computer - would suggest Only Migrating the User Account and nothing more.

1 - Apple Silicon with either Big Sur macOS 11 or Monterey macOS 12 Only Support everything 64 bit and there is no workaround.

2 - Issues that may exist on the older computer will be migrated to the New Computer. This would badly pollute the new Original and Pristine installation of the new OS.

3 -  Applications, extensions and Software Drivers may or may not even work on the new computer.

4 - IMHO - it would be best to only install new application etc Directly from the Developer or the Apple Apps Store.

5 - Due Diligence on New Applications and make sure they are Monterey / Big Sur compatible and factor in the ARMs CPU of the Apple Silicon Computer
