Can’t update iPhone
Saying my software needs to be updated but it’s has latest software and no option to update
iPhone 6, iOS 12

Specifically what is saying it needs to be updated? Some apps do require a newer version of iOS. However an iPhone 6 cannot be updated beyond iOS 12.X and there is no work-around for that.
