apple tv 4K wont turn on the bose soundbar

I have been able to set up volume control using a universal remote for my Bose sound bar. However I can’t get the Apple TV to power on the sound bar and have to use the Bose remote to turn the sound bar on. When I tried to learn new device using the Bose remote it doesn’t detect a signal from the Bose remote. I have clear access to the Apple TV and the Bose sound at while I’m trying to set up the remote.

Hi, diana236. It may or may not be possible to control your sound bar via your Apple TV. As noted in If you can't control your TV or receiver with your Apple TV Remote

"Make sure that HDMI-CEC is on

If some features don't work, check the following:

Make sure that your TV or receiver offers HDMI-CEC support. For help, ask the TV manufacturer or check the manual.

Check that HDMI-CEC is turned on in the menu of your TV or receiver. Use the remote that came with your equipment. Since manufacturers often have different names for HDMI-CEC, look for a setting that ends in "Link" or "Sync." Here are some examples:

LG: SimpLink

Philips: EasyLink

Samsung: Anynet+

Sharp: Aquos Link

Sony: BRAVIA Sync"

You may also need to reach out to Bose to see if this would be possible with your current setup.

Cheers!
