Wireless keyboard / desktop Mac

Every once in a while keys repeat seemingly until they get tired,

looks like this taskkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Backspace key and all other keys affected in the same way.

Only solution is restart or a full re-boot.

Mac is about 18 months old, keyboard the same.

This has happened probably half a dozen times in the last year, most recently last night.

Awkward when in the middle of a zoom meeting.

Does anyone have any other ideas other than re-boot?

(I oversee the two Macs in our home but am not a tech person.)
