Define "work".

The Mac mini is a computer on its own. Its not an add-on for another computer. It doesn't work with other computers any more than an iMac would work with a MacBook Pro or even another iMac. What are you expecting the Mac mini to do with the iMac?

If you mean can the Mac mini use the iMac as its screen, if both Macs are running Monterey, the Mac mini can use AirPlay to Mac to send its display to it, but you still need an actual screen connected to the Mac mini to enable that feature.
