If you don't have instructions for your router, do an internet search for instructions your router brand/model or if your router was supplied by your internet service provider, check their website.
Also note that if you are making the change due to the weak security warning from Apple, you will need to change the router settings to WPA2 AES (or to WPA3). On my router the AES setting is located near the WPA2 setting.

First of all, the router must support WPA2 security. Which router make and model do you have? Please post the exact model number (but do not post a serial number or any access codes).
