Date & Time does not match websites

You can try re-sync the Apple time server from the Terminal.app copy a& paste:

sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com

what MacBook Pro model-year?

what MacOS?

Manually trusting a certificate bypasses automatic verification of the "chain-of-trust" that certificates are intended to give you.

This could leave you open to erroneous connections. There may be better ways to get this working.

in 10.11 ElCapitan, the way you resolved this (manually Trusting a new ISRG root) is said to be the best way, short of a MacOS re-install, which is not certain to solve it.

MacOS UPGRADE would solve it better, because it would give you a new Trusted root certificate direct from Apple.
