If you are using Safari, go to Preferences, then Content blockers and turn it on. you should be able to get a safari extension to do the same thing. If you are using Firefox, version 98.0 has a basic built in popup blocker. here's how to do it in Chrome (see link):https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95472?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop, (you can get extensions for Chrome that will do that as well) and Opera ? here's how to do that (another link)https://www.opera.com/use-cases/how-to-block-ads-and-pop-ups.... close your browser, and before you open a new browser window, then click on Preferences and turn ad/popup blocking on, then open a window and see if there's any difference...you might have picked up some Malware...try MalwareBytes, which is free (or cheap_ and available for Mac

Depending on what Web Browser you're using, rhymus, you can get rid of pop-ups on your Mac. Safari has a built-in pop-up blocker, while Firefox, you can get a free plugin to block pop-ups.... (from mozilla.org). If you use another web browser, I'm sure you can find a plug in or another way to block pop-ups on your Mac

hope this helps
