What are you trying to achieve with the connection?

We also need to know the macOS version that each computer is running and the sub-model of the iMac (year + any modifiers, like Early, Mid, or Late).

If you are trying to use the iMac as a monitor for the MacBook Pro via Target Display Mode (TDM), that is important for us to know. Only a limited number of iMacs made between Mid 2009 and Mid 2014 can act as an external monitor for another Mac. Also your 2015 MacBook Pro cannot be running any higher than macOS 10.15 Catalina to use TDM. There are other system limitations laid out in this Apple support article:

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

So please help us help you by adding details. We can neither see nor touch your computer in this setting and must rely on you for a lot of background information. Also most of us are bad at guessing!
