Apple TV shuts off

Apple TV shuts off after about 15 minutes. System has been rebooted and totally reset with no effect.

The idle timer shouldn’t kick in when streaming video from any service, because the Apple TV isn’t idle then.

Unless someone else chimes in with a good idea, I would suggest to contact an expert from the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

Is it streaming anything when this happens? If so, from which content provider?

It is an Apple TV 4K (first Gen).

Amazon Prime primarily but other streaming services as well.

After resetting system it defaulted to 15 min and I didn’t catch it. That said, after setting it back to 5 hours, it still shuts off after about 15 minutes.
