I have an old ipod that works great. It says it is version 1.3. Can I download a compatible version onto my Windows 10 laptop?

I recently purchased an iPod A1040, and although I found the following link it REFUSES to let me download and install the software on my current Windows system(s). iPod Software for Windows 2.0.1 Updater: Information and Download
I'll try again, but I stopped trying years ago because I had over 2,000 songs, some videos, ringtones and books in a folder downloaded to my computer, but they don't play now. I'll try to look again to see if I can connect to them. I assumed that it was a change that Windows or iTunes had made.
Thanks, good info. My concern is that my library on the computer only shows the ability to download a few hundred songs from the cloud, but didn't seem to be able to play the thousands that I had gotten off of cds earlier. I remember following instructions to copy them from the old computer to the new. The old ipod still plays a few thousand, but I assumed that I could not get them to work on iTunes on the Windows machine, so I haven't downloaded or copied anything new to iTunes for a long time. I'll try once more when I have time before switching to something different.
When you sign into iTunes on a new computer it should show your unhidden purchase history. To get other content you ripped into an earlier library you either need to copy that library from one computer to the next, or for music only, have a subscription to either Apple Music or iTunes Match.

Thanks. I did follow the instructions at the time and copied the library from old to new but had trouble getting the new iTunes to play what was in the files. I'll assume that I must have done something wrong and I'll take another look at it. Thanks.
The current version of iTunes should be compatible with your older iPod.

iTunes stopped supporting ringtones and iBooks back in version 12.7.

That software is from 2003 and is no longer relevant. iPod updating was folded into iTunes many moons ago and no longer relies on separate updater software.
