Safari never left. It is installed as part of the Mac's operating system and can not be individually removed. You will find its icon located in the Applications folder. Click on it to open Safari and then in Safari's Preferences you can make it the browser of choice. You may also want to drag Safari's icon to the Dock to create an alias there if one is not there already.
