Photo albums appear as empty under desktop & screen saver

Normally my mac desktop background is pictures from an album that changes every minute, but suddenly my background changed to one of apples own desktop pictures, so I went to settings to change it, but when I select the album I normally have as my background, it appears empty along with all the other albums, but they are not empty under photos. I have both tried to fix it by restarting my mac and updating the software but all my photo albums are still seen as empty if I want to select them as background. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

(idk if this is relevant but my mac is a MacBook Air 2020 and the software is macOS Monterey 12.3)

How long are you waiting for the photos to appear in the albums? Sometimes it is taking several minutes before they are appearing.

If your Photos Library is syncing with iCloud, force the download from iCloud before you try to use the album in the screensaver.

The Screensaver is currently having the bug, that the edited versions of the photos are not shown but only the originals.

It helps to export the photos for the slideshow to a folder in your Pictures folder and to use this folder as the source of the screensaver.
