I signed up for Apple Music in order to transfer the music I had in iTunes; I don’t want to purchase new music. I’ve made the transfer, and I can access my music from my iPhone now, but I don’t know if it’s being stored on my phone or in the cloud somewhere.
What do I have to do in order to be able to just own the music I already own, and not pay a monthly price?

I should have mentioned that the music is on an older Mac, and I don't have a cable that connects it to my iPhone 13. Using Apple Music was the only way I could think of to transfer the music virtually.
Once the sub is cancelled you'll have to wait until the expiration date to be able to sync using a cable.
You need an adapter.
I am able to listen to my music now—where is it being stored? What will happen if I cancel the subscription now?
