Finder search not working

Finder search function does NOT work well enough on new MacBook Pro 14-in with M1 chip (also applies to Spotlight, although I hardly ever use that approach). It appears the search can not penetrate more than 2-3 layers of folders. Recently opening a particular file or moving it out onto desktop gets around the issue but is not acceptable. I have never seen this problem in over 30 years of using Macs. This needs to be fixed!!!!!

Finder and Spotlight are somewhat limited in their Search capabilities. I use EasyFind; it's on the App Store and it's free. There are other apps similar to it.
