Incorrect battery percentage indicator - macOS 12.3

I have macOS 12.3 on my 14 inch macbook pro. My mac shuts off when the battery percentage reaches around 20%. The battery health is showing as normal. I think there's a software bug in the percentage indicator.

In an effort to sort anomalies on the M1 (M1 Mac doesn’t have a System Management Controller.)

the go to way is do a  SafeBoot—

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, etc.

No need to log in— Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
