Location data for multiple photos

I recently took a bunch of photos with my "real" camera, which, unlike my iPhone, doesn't assign location data. I selected some of them in Apple Photos and tried to assign location data to all of them, but the data woudn't stick. If I do it one photo at a time, it works fine, but I that's pretty time-consuming. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong? I'm using Big Sur 11.6.5. Thanks!

You're not doing anything wrong. Photos doesn't assign location data to multiple images at once.
