Go to Settings>Face ID & Passcode>Require Passcode. If able, you can increase the time there. If is it not, then your workaround would be not to lock the screen right away, and you could increase the time limit there. However, not locking the iPhone right away is dangerous, since if it was lost/stolen, it could allow the thief access to your device and data.
