I intend to trade in my old iPhone for a new one, so I am kind of confused how to trade in the old one. If I order the new one online and when it arrives, how am I supposed to trade in, send it myself or Apple to send someone to picks it up?

When you get the new one, Apple will send you (separately) a return package with the appropriate label, and you have 14 days to ship it back.
