I had my mini connected to an old Apple TV, but it won’t connect to a different one or even my phone.

HomePod Mini can be selected as a temporary AirPlay speaker on Apple TV and other Apple devices (e.g. from Control Center).

HomePod Mini can be set a a default speaker with Apple TV 4K (A1842, A2169).
