My stolen phone got "Unavailable" and I know the Password.

My iPhone got stolen 2 days ago. We were able to find it with the police involved. The person who stole it had tried to unlock the iPhone and after failed attempts, my iPhone got locked (I know the password). There are a lot of sensitive data on it, that I would never want to lose. Is there any way that I can have the chance to enter my password again? Or to be able to have Apple fix it for me? This is very upsetting. Please someone help.
