Touch  ID does not work after I have left my new iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021) for a few hours

Touch  ID does not work after I have left my new iMac (24-inch, M1, 2021) for a few hours. I have not shut it down, in sleep mode.  I am then required to re-enter my password each time in order to activate the Touch ID for my session (Your Password is required to use Touch ID). Also I must re-enter my PW for Spotlight, Assistant, iCloud Notification Agent and Com.apple.iCloud Helper. Help!

Click ▶︎ If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac.


Try the following:


Update macOS.

Try Safe Mode.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac.


If that does not help, then get expert service and support at the Genius Bar.
