Yes, you can have up to 4 different IDs signed in on an iPhone. One for each service: iTunes & App Stores, iCloud, Messages and FaceTime.


It's not really recommended, but it can be done.

WhatsApp is not tied to an Apple ID at all for regular use (the app download is tied to an Apple ID, but has nothing to do with the number being used in the App). Its only tied to your Phone number, and at this time can only be tied to one Phone number even if you have 2 setup on your iPhone.


The WhatsApp developers need to update it to support multiple lines.

True. But then your phone number has nothing to do with it. Its the Apple ID that would provide access to those backups regardless of what number they belong to.


If you use a different Apple ID than the one used for the original backup, then the WhatsApp backup would not be available there.
