Quicktake Video Stabilization

I noticed that using the Quicktake feature in the camera app allows you to take 4:3 aspect ratio video, unlike in the dedicated video mode. I know this has some drawbacks with the audio quality and lack of resolution options, but I'm wondering if the digital stabilization is affected, as there is less of a crop. In third party video camera apps, enabling 4:3 video mode (and using the entire sensor) also disabled stabilization. Has anyone tested this or gotten an official statement from Apple?
