I am wondering why my gift card wont let me make purchases it says apple id verification failed then i put my apple id in and it takes me to app store and wants me to put card info in it i just want to use my gift card not debit or credit card

The cvv is normally somewhere on the card. Try the debit card and see if it works.
Sorry but u make know sense to me i am using a iPhone 5s so it can only update to the 12.5.5 so it can not do any of that stuff newer phones can do
If you add a credit card, the purchase should be charged to your Apple ID balance before the credit card is charged. Once you make your purchase, you can remove the credit card if desired.
