sound output choices

In an article with this URL Connect to HDMI from your Mac - Apple Support

the instruction is given to make sure the HDMI device is selected as a sound output. There is no HDMI option on the new Mac Book Pro. There seems to be no way to get both Audio and Video output to our TV or soundbar. We get video through the HDMI cable or audio through airplay, but cannot get both.

This problem is disappointing because connecting the HDMI cable on the Mac Book Pro that was traded in to the same TV and soundbar produced both audio and video with no problem.

How can we get audio and video on the Mac Book Pro that was just purchased new?

hi, gvsteve,it’s easy.. your MacBook pro has 2 thunderbolt 4 ports(thunderbolt 3? ) which output stuff over USB-C. So you’d need one of these: https://www.amazon.ca/Adapter-Thunderbolt-Compatible-MacBook-Pixelbook/dp/B07JW7GT7H/ref=asc_df_B07JW7GT7H/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=360191347812&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8138832542610518366&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001386&hvtargid=pla-659318489714&psc=1( amazon link) otherwise get a thunderbolt 4 dock..

depending on your audio + video needs…
