Need to back up watch to icloud

Phone is in bottom of lake and nothing was in the icloud. Everything is still on the watch that it was synced to - contacts, text messages, etc. How can I back the data on the watch up into the icloud or move what is on watch to the new iphone?

If the iPhone was backed up to iCloud or your computer, the watch backup should be included in that. For more info, see:

Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

You will need to unpair the watch from your lost iPhone. Here are two ways to unpair your watch if you no longer have the paired iPhone:

  • See the 'How to erase your Apple Watch if you don't have your iPhone' section of:

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

  • With a web browser, go to: https://www.iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID. Open Find My iPhone and select All Devices (at the top). Then click your Apple Watch, select 'Erase Apple Watch', and select Next until the device is erased. Finally click "X" next to remove your Apple Watch.
