How to get rid of search marquis?

I would suggest should download and run Malwarebytes. 

The application scans for adware and malware and is a popular tool among veteran users here in the Community. See if it can identify the malware you may have accidentally installed. The free version is probably all you need at this point to identify and quarantine potential problems.

That makes perfect sense because Search Marquis is, after all, a browser hijacker.

You may try to view these pages on another computer, and maybe even download the Malwarebytes app on another machine, then bring the app to the Mac on a flash drive.

Thank you, DJ Johnson. After too much frustration and despair I tried doing as you suggested and my problem is fixed. Signed up for the free trial and several things came up. Had no idea what they were but once they were removed, my sanity was restored. Thank you.
