Migration(soon) from 2012 MacBookPro(version 10.13.6) to a new 16" M1 Mac book

Should I rely on the Apple Store folks to do the migration? Or, should I find an independent technician?

I have no present b/u drive, other than doing incremental b/u's on small SSD thumb drives. Plan is to also buy a new external SSD drive and also try out TimeMachine.

(I should note that Apple still references my ownership of a 2008 iMac, but it died several years ago.)

Thanks much,

LB

When you set up your new Mac, it will offer to transfer information from the older one. You can transfer its information directly, over Wi-Fi, or from its Time Machine backup.
