How can I access my significant location records to view them?

They are not gone. They are simply no longer viewable by the user. They do, however, continue to serve the function for which the data is collected which is to "Allow your iPhone and iCloud connected devices to learn places significant to you in order to provide useful location-related information in Maps, Calendar, Photos and more."


No one here would know why Apple made this change.

You cannot. You might want to look at an app called Life Cycle. I'm sure there are others.


If you're willing to pay the price, Google will also collect your location history and display it for you in various ways. The price is in potential loss of privacy, not money.
