Make Siri speak out loud

Siri has stopped responding audibly. She just types. I want her to speak audibly.

First, check that Settings>Siri & Search>Siri Responses is set to "Always". Then, invoke Siri and, while the indicator is on the screen, use the volume buttons to raise the volume.

On at least one occasion, I stopped getting any voice response and it turned out, I'd managed to turn the Siri volume down. And, to make things even more confusing, you can only adjust that volume while Siri is active.
