You cannot remotely delete files from your iPad unless it is in your possession - however, if your iPad is active with a network connection, you can use Apple’s Find My service to remotely trigger device erasure.

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is lost or stolen – Apple Support

Use the Find My app to locate a lost or stolen device – Apple Support
