Messed up the display color

One day a week ago, my display color suddenly became abnormal. I tried to switch between the few options in Display>Color (color LCD, ACES CG Linear, Display), but it either look too white or too dark, and calibration doesn't help to set to a normal level.

How can I get the display color back to 'factory setting' level without touching other part of the system? Thank you!

@leroydouglas Thanks for your reply. Nothing triggered in accessibility but color LCD has a clear whitewashed look, compared to the past and to other mbp. For example, an app that's usually dark blue is now faint blue, an IDE that's pitch dark is now light grey. I couldn't get calibration back to normal tone, either too yellow or too dark.
could it be hardware damage?

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc impacting the  smooth operation, however a  reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

Color LCD seems to be default.
