Won't happen: Unless your iPhone "specifically" is at Least 6s, 6sPlus, or

any version SE (1,2,3 gen), 7, 7Plus, 8, 8Plus, XR, XS, XSMax, all models

of 11, 12 and 13 series.

A recent update for iOS15.6 should still apply to these models. However

several older version iPhone would be dropped; as the transition to iOS

16.x leaves them to less features, and then, to historical past.

An iPhone 5s, 6, 6Plus can upgrade to their final iOS12.5.5 level only.

iPhone 6 cannot update past iOS 12.

That update is not supported, and is not possible.

The next version of iOS, iOS 16, is arriving later this year, and will minimally require an iPhone 8.
