Check iPhone type & version -> Go to: Settings -> General -> About.

If it is an iPhone 6 -> iOS 12.5.5 is the last security updates for iPhone 6, -> released 23 september 2021.

If it is an iPhone 6S you can update the iPhone to iOS 15, you can check by reading this Apple article:

Then go to: Settings -> General -> Software Update

You need about 7 GB device storage and good Service & Wi-Fi.
