Mail Access on Ipad 2

In May, 2022 I lost access to my Yahoo email account on my Ipad with the "unable to connect to the mail server" message. Running IOS 9.3.5 which is current for this model. Following previous recommendations, I deleted the mail account access to Yahoo but was unable to add back my Yahoo mail account. The system allows me to go through the add account process, Yahoo recognizes the connection, but the account does not get added to my system so I still cannot access email. What to do next?

In common with many other Mail providers, Yahoo now use App Passwords to secure access IMAP or POP3 mailboxes.

The Mail App on each of your devices, such as your iPad, requires a unique password to be generated from within the Yahoo account. This App password intentionally differs from your Yahoo account password - and can only be used to access your Yahoo mail.
