There is a 2008 20" iMac running osx El Capitan and I am curious if my 2020 MacBook Pro M1 would be able to hook up to this so I can use the iMac as a monitor.
I am not very tech savvy so please explain as best as possible.

As you can see, the iMac is too olde and the M1 Macbook Pro is too new.

there is also a
iMac 24" model from 2008 - 2.8GhZ Core 2 Duo Processor, 4GB RAM, 512MB Video Card, 320GB HDD
if it works on this model I would prefer to buy this one
