what happens when you place pre-order for a movie? Do you own it or is it a rental?

Pre-orders are for buy purchases, not rentals.

Pre-orders are reservations for items that aren’t available yet. You will get an email message when it becomes available.

Pre-orders are billed when the item becomes available.
