iMac start-up failure

My iMac, given by my ex-employer, fails 15 secs into start-up and I can't get it to work. Tried pulling out cable, keyboard etc. The last operation was to save backup storage on desktop in order to "clean" the backup. Please help.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.12

This sounds like a hardware failure. Please follow all the steps in :

If your Mac doesn't start up all the way and also

If your Mac won't turn on

If it fails (which I suspect it will) the next step is making an appointment with your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it professionally diagnosed.
