Using Headphones for Notifications:

Are you talking about your Beats head phones, or are you using and other brand. Using head phones for messaging.

1. Go Here: Announce notifications with Siri on AirPods or Beats - Apple Support
2. Scroll to: Use Announce Notifications
3. As it Reads: “With this feature turned on, Siri announces incoming notifications from apps such as Messages”

Why the Issue?

Being incompatible, then this just will not work. It all has to do with hardware and software compatibilities.

Setting Up Beat Flex Headphones:

Enable Bluetooth, and then sync this, and all will work.
