Datas switch from old to new macbook

How can I transfer datas from my old mac to my new one in the case where I will no longer have my old mac with me ?

Is the only way to use a usb key or hard drive and copy the datas manually ?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Back up your old Mac with Time Machine Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support . Connect the external drive with the TimeMachine to your new Mac and use Migration Assistent to move the content to your new Mac
