The Apple short corded adapter work for every device.
For modest-performance devices (not for displays) you can buy these tiny adapters on places like Amazon at 2 for US$10:
NB>> as with all tiny adapters, when not actively in use, these kinds of devices seem to 'grow legs and walk away'.
The Apple adapter does not tend to do that.
